Mas de la Lavande

The restoration and transformation of an 18th-century stone mas in the Luberon. The ancient honey-coloured limestone fabric was carefully conserved, while a new contemporary addition in board-formed concrete provides a glazed connection between old and new.

The intervention is conceived as a dialogue between the permanence of the historic structure and the precision of contemporary construction. The new concrete volume is deliberately set apart from the original building, connected by a glazed link that allows the junction between old and new to be read clearly.
